Back in action!

We’re edging back into September, and soon enough school and autumn and all that cold weather will sneak back into our lives. Before that happens though, I want to make sure we still get some warm weather concerts in! Norman is playing in Portland.

We’re playing Sunday, Sept 12th at Rontom’s with Portland’s Dolorean and Derby! This show is also FREE, which is always the best price. Don’t miss this!

Summer kickoff in Corvallis/Salem this weekend:

This weekend we’re playing our last couple of shows, and taking a bit of a break for the summer.

Eric is heading out to Norway this summer to study at University of Oslo and will be gone for the entirety of the summer.
The final summer shows will be in Corvallis at Cloud 9 (Friday, 10pm) and Salem at the Ike Box (Saturday, 7pm).
Eric will also be playing an early night solo performance, just a block down from Cloud 9 at Belle Vallee Winery. That’s free and it should be outdoors! Let’s hope the pollen isn’t out to play. Our friends, Jack Ruby Presents will be joining us and celebrating the release of their new record!

We uploaded a video of Norman playing Reaching Jefferson at the Doug Fir this last March. I hope you love it. This song is for you Oregon, my Corvallis, my home, my family, my friends. Now matter how exciting an adventure I will be headed on, I will miss the Oregon summer. We’ll see you this weekend.

Edgefield/Mission Mill shows + Video

Hey everyone, I posted another video on youtube of the band performing the song “Bellfountain Stars” from the new record. I figured it was fitting, seeing that summer is just around the corner. Speaking of summer, this week Norman has two outdoor shows. One this Thursday at McMenamin’s Edgefield in Troutdale. The other is at Mission Mill Museum in Salem. More details are on the side bar where the concert info is listed.

Norman 7″ split release & video!

Yea! After all the wait it’s totally worth it. Our first 7″ vinyl is out! It is a split we made with our friend, Joel P. West (www.joelpwest.com). We’ll be formally releasing it this Saturday at Doug Fir Lounge in Portland, OR. 10pm. 21+

I uploaded a video on youtube of our last time at Doug Fir in Portland. Pretty cool stuff.

28 Days in May:

We were so lucky to have the opportunity to play last night for one of the final days of the month long art project: 28 Day in May, which took place in SE Portland. There was plenty of great music, art, food, and creativity to be had! Streaming all day is a bunch more music straight from the house. There was music today by Mark Mothersbaugh of Devo, The Dandy Warhols, and Dolorean. MORE TO COME!

We’re playing an all ages show in Portland this Saturday with our dear friends The Ascetic Junkies and Ezra Carey.

In the meantime, we’re writing more songs and getting ready to go into the studio to record a 30second instrumental track that may appear on the next Parson Red Heads record. That’s really exciting!

Winter Demos…

Hvordan har du det? (That’s Norwegian for “How are you today?” to all you English speakers out there)

I’ve been wanting to release a couple of demos that were recorded back in December by myself and Adam with the help of our friends Mark Cleaver of The Vicious Kisses and Brian Harvey from Pine Language. We spent the cold winter day in Mark’s grandma’s house in the logging town of Philomath, OR. It was a fun day that we used to get some really splendid ideas down. This isn’t anything like what the eventual tracks will sound like, but it was merely a couple of one takes. What I’ve included is two songs that are up for your listening.

Motown Sound DEMO -Although this isn’t the actual title of the song, it’s a working title so we can recognize it in rehearsals and upcoming setlists. We’ve recently revamped the song and it sounds fantastic! Listen to that Magnus air organ Adam brought back from Austin. It sounds killer!

Younger DEMO – This is one of my favorites to play right now. This is a very early stripped down version. I was writing lyrics on the spot and it turned out alright. Everything was a one take. Brian Harvey is playing the lead on 12 string.

We’ve got a couple of em comin’ up in Corvallis, Portland and Bend. I just found a poster for the Portland show and took it off a pole in my neighborhood. Eh, I guess you get by with what you have and make do. Corvallis this Saturday the 20th, Portland the following Friday, the next day in Bend. We’ll see you there!
